I began a long career in photography shortly after college. When digital photography became the norm, I decided it was time to explore a new medium and began drawing and painting.
Primarily self taught as an adult, I have been fortunate to have art teachers and mentors along the way who have challenged me to find my unique voice in painting.
I apply oil paint in multiple layers using a brush and a palette knife. It is a continual process of applying paint and scrapping back to reveal a previous layer. I work on several canvases at a time which allows the painting to slowly evolve. There are always fresh and unexpected results in this process.
I can be found daily in my studio at Redux Contemporary Art Center in Charleston, South Carolina.
